I’m the worst -
Posted by Sarah in Offline, Work

My god, how long has it been? I am really bad about updating and working on my site when I’m busy. And damn, have I been busy.

I’m working from 1-9 now every weekday and I’m pretty much exhausted. I’m working as a caretaker =) The good news though is that soon I will likely be purchasing a smartphone with internet service that I can use while at work. Perhaps that way I won’t have to completely abandon my friends/family because I have to work such stupid hours.

Steve and Torey (offline friends) moved to town recently so I’m trying to get her a gig doing the same thing I’m doing so hopefully that works out. I am going to try to get some shit in order and do these kinds of things on the weekend. Hopefully soon though, I will be blogging from work.

XD

New Kitten!!
Posted by Sarah in Photos, Gaming, Offline

It’s official - I’m a Warcraft addict. I feel like I’ve nearly abandoned most of my online stuff since I started playing way too much. I’m still waiting to get bored of it. Hasn’t happened yet.

Anyway, we got a new kitten!! A neighbor’s cat had a couple tabby kittens and we took one home a few days ago. It’s a 2 month old little girl who we’ve named Sylvie. The older cats were a lot more comfortable with her than I thought they would be. Syd especially. He’s taken to acting as her surrogate mother. Continuously bathing her and playing with her. Theo’s been less responsive; hissing at her for the first few days - but he’s warming up to her now. I give it one week.

So now, the best part - pictures! (there are quite a few so click ‘read more’ to see them all)

Sick as fuck
Posted by Sarah in Rants, Offline, WTF

That seemed the only title I found appropriate to explain my long absence. I was recently hospitalized for what I’ll only say were “intenstinal problems”. I think the shit they gave me to cleanse my system also flushed out a great deal of my immune system and as soon as I was back to normal, I got this fucking cold and cough. It started out as just a stuffy nose and now my throat is seriously fucked up. My diaphram hurts like hell from all the coughing. So now I’m going on my third week being sick. Fucking joy.

The worst part is that I’m trying to get a job at the paper and I’ve been putting off bringing in my resume due to being sick. I need to get around to doing that shit. Then maybe I’ll sit down and open up Photoshop. See if I’ve still got it in me to do something with this site.

I’m sorry though. Shit happens.

Holy Shit, It’s May already?
Posted by Sarah in Gaming, Friends, Offline, Literature

It finally feels like spring! It’s 78 degrees outside in the shade right now.

I know it’s been a while since I last wrote. I’ve been reading a lot lately so that’s also taken away from the time I spend sitting slumped over at the computer. I’ve nearly finished the best book I have ever read - Breaking Open The Head; A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism. It makes me want to persue shamanism myself.

Besides reading and the usual, I just haven’t been up to much.

Harley and I picked up a new 27″ monitor from a friend and it was 60 bucks very well spent. It’s an older monitor so the resolution can only go as high as 800×600, but its fucking HUGE. I’ve enjoyed playing Warcraft on it a few times but it’s also really great for browsing the web. .

Happy 420 to all you stoners!
Posted by Sarah in Videos, Gaming, Events, Offline

I know I’m posting this a bit late but obviously I’ve been far too stoned to sit here and try to write about this most awesome of holidays. Of course, all stoners know that 420 (April 20th) is national pot-smoking day and most celebrate by getting as baked as is humanly possible. The way everyone else drinks like a fish on Saint Patricks day. It’s a real big thing amonst my friends and I and has been since I started smoking.

I actually heard someone recently suggest that 420 is celebrated because stoners love Hitler and celebrate his birthday by getting stoned, which is utterly ridiculous. Hitler was a violent speedfreak - and the complete opposite of a stoner in every way. Educate yourself; High Times released a potcast explaining the origins of the holiday.

Besides that, all of my computer time has been spent playing Warcraft, as pathetic as that sounds. I’m still working toward getting enough gold for my horse. I’ve been mostly farming and trying not to get caught up in doing quests that won’t really help me but it gets mighty boring just killing for money and loot. I bet the day after I get my horse, I stop playing for at least another month.

Once the sun is out everyday though, I’ll be getting the fuck out of the house. Is it just me or did it used to be already nice and warm and sunny at the beginning of April? My sister’s birthday is April 2nd and we were always having outdoor birthday parties.. running around in shorts. It’s too weird we just keep getting rain. A peak of sunlight here and there but it’s grey skies for the most part. Ugh.

StepItUp & W.O.W. Weekend
Posted by Sarah in Photos, Gaming, Events, Offline

Yesterday Harley and I began our morning by heading downtown to attend Step It Up 2007 - a rally for the National Day of Climate Action. They showcased some electric cars - including a sweet old gas Porche converted to running soley on electricity. They also talked about things you can do to reduce carbon emissions like using more efficient lightbulbs, riding a bike on short-distance trips, taking quick showers and so on. So that was fun. We stayed there for maybe an hour and wondered around town a bit as well. I snapped this picture of my favorite building downtown - right across the street from the park where the rally was held.

The rest of my weekend so far has been spent playing World of Warcraft though. I started feeling guilty about paying for 2 months that I didn’t play at all - I could have used that $40! So since my mage is nearing level 40, I’ve been going around trying to make the money I need for riding lessons and my horse (90 gold). So that’s keeping me going - I’ve wanted a mount since the day I started playing.

I’ve also begun thinking about investing in a sewing machine so I can get good at that and start making my own dresses and skirts and altered clothing of all types. I find it puzzling that hardly anyone these days has the desire to make their own clothing. I love the idea of having something totally unique that you put a lot of effort into - not to mention that you can have a huge, vast wardrobe for next to nothing compared to buying the shit off the rack. We found one in the classifieds, a Singer, for $50. Its apparently been checked out by a professional and is in perfect working order. Plus, its in our town so we’d just have to go pick it up.

So shits good. I’m happy.

Forgive me for the bad lighting. Our desklamp is yellow so the camera didn’t capture it too well.

Vintage  is  ♥
Posted by Sarah in Photos, Friends, Offline, Fashion

I know I have been really bad about updating this blog. It’s just that I’ve been busy doing other things. Like buying handmade and vintage clothing on ebay. I’ve become somewhat obsessed with Jessica McClintock’s ‘Gunne Sax‘ line from San Francisco in the late 1960s - 1970s. She brought back this sort of prairie-girl style with very simple fabrics and patterns with lace and ruffles and ties and the like. I’ll post a few pictures to show you what I mean.

So this year I’ve dedicated myself to picking up at least a few of these beautiful dresses for summer. The crocheted one in the middle - I wanted that one so bad but it ended up at over a hundred dollars - which I would have gladly spent if I’d had it. :(

I did make a couple purchases over the weekend though. One was this modified Rolling Stones shirt which I purchased from the-dark-queen for a mere $17.50 including shipping.

And this morning I won the auction for this Gunne Sax dress from terrilynnemoon. The total came to just over $20.

So I’m pretty excited to get those. I’ll be sure to post pictures of myself wearing them.

Besides that, not much has been going on. My friends Beene and Eb came up to visit for a few days the week before last. Ebani probably won’t be moving in. We talked about it and she isn’t going to be ready to move until fall. Whereas our friend DJ already has a job waiting for him nearby and needs a place to live come June. Luckily though, there was no argument - surprisingly Eb understood and seemed okay with it so that made me happy. She’s supposed to come up in the fall for Hempfest anyway so I’m sure we’ll still be seeing eachother at least once a year.

And my sister turned 18 yesterday. Happy Birthday Summer! ♥

Hells Yes - Its Spring!
Posted by Sarah in Friends, Offline

I’ve been putting off blogging for the past couple of weeks mainly because I haven’t done a damn thing. Well, I’ve been working on some fanlistings I was recently approved for including I Love Lucy, Peyote, The Faint and High Times Magazine. Other than that though, nothin.

Spring is officially here! The other day we went to some nurseries to get ideas for landscaping this year. I want to plant a ton of flowers and maybe a tree, if we can afford one. Trees are very expensive, we found. We’re going to tear up all the weeds in the garden and plant a bunch of veggies too this year. Sweet peas and peppers and stuff like that :)

I’m so fucking excited for spring/summer though. I hate being stuck inside all the time. For me, winter’s the time to stay in everyday being a recluse and I’m tellin’ ya - it gets old. Anytime the sun’s started coming out, I’ve found myself becoming very restless. Must mean it’s time to get back to nature. ♥

I’m also pretty excited for Eb and Beane who will be here friday! I guess they are going to be staying a week longer than they thought because of some faggoty-ass Billy Talent concert they apparently “have to” attend. Ahahahahaha.

Spring has Sprung
Posted by Sarah in News, Photos

flowersthumb.jpgWell not “officially”, that isnt for another couple weeks. But I can definately see springtime setting in. We had a couple days of beautiful sunlight and it was actually Warm! I’m getting very excited and also restless. I can’t stand to sit in the dark, dull house when the sun is shining bright outside. This spring also marks one year that Harley and I have lived in this house.

In other “news”, Ebani has decided that she’d like to move up here from Oregon. Last year we got into this big fight and she said she didn’t want to move in with us anymore. Well I guess she got over it and we’re going to try again. She’s going to be up here the 23rd of this month for what she calls a “trial run” then if shes going to move in, she’ll do it this summer. Probably because she’s taking classes up until then.

I’m actually somewhat concerned about the whole thing. Ebani and I have known eachother since .. I dunno.. 4th grade or something. We’re both really stubborn and have bad tempers so oftentimes small disagreements progress into huge fights where we end up not talking to eachother for weeks or months. That kind of shit can’t happen if we’re living together so we’re both going to have to try to get past it, I suppose. Definately easier said than done.

I’m excited to try though. It will be nice to have a roommate, esspecially a girl.
